In 1970 Hélène and Alain Caslot arrived in La Chapelle-sur-Loire to set up Domaine CASLOT-BOURDIN with 1 hectare of Bourgueil vines and 3 hectares to grow fruit and vegetables. In 1972 they planted an additional hectare of vines at Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil. Little by little the operation grew and by 1982 there were 7 hectares of vines. 1986 was a major turning point, when they abandoned their other crops to concentrate on their vines, with a view to producing and marketing quality wines.
By the time the estate became a limited liability agricultural holding (EARL) in 1994 – operating as EARL Caslot-Bourdin – it had 12 hectares of vines. In 1998 Hélène and Alain Caslot’s son, Cyprien, joined his parents in the business and since 2006 it has been Cyprien and his wife Sabrina who have been keeping the history of Domaine Caslot-Bourdin alive. Today, they cultivate around 18 hectares of vines, 6 in Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil and 12 in Bourgueil.
