She had one desire: to grow Cabernet Franc grapes using sustainable and environmentally friendly methods. Her passion was working the land in a quest to produce the finest grapes which reflect their terroir. And she succeeded, producing wines of an exceptional finesse and elegance. She moved the business forward with the construction of a winery and then a storage warehouse and invested in thermo-regulated vats to give her better control of fermentation. She did all this to pass on to her two children, Estelle and Rodolphe, a sound and sustainable operation.
Estelle started in the family business in 1997, with Rodolphe joining her in 2001. In 2013 the siblings took over from their parents, continuing to operate according to their values: respect for nature and the terroir. Maison Cognard began converting to organic in 2017 and currently has 14 hectares all planted to Cabernet Franc.
